It’s time for our favorite monthly segment, the AIGA Tallahassee Member Spotlight! This month we celebrate the talented Amanda Ropp:
“Hello, Amanda here. I moved to Tallahassee in 2009 after graduating from the University of Florida with a BS in Biological Illustration. Instead of going the illustration route, I took a job with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and have been a state employee ever since. Currently I’m focusing on taking on as much freelance illustration as I can while remaining employed full time with the Florida Board of Governors as a Database Analyst.
In my off time I tend to migrate towards the coast. Being active in nature is what gets me going. I think it’s important to be mindful of our impact on mother earth and consciously make better choices for ourselves and for future generations. I love movies, practicing yoga, singing and (poorly) playing my guitar. If you see me out, there’s a good chance I’ll be sippin’ on some cold brew or a Negroni. OH! I have a red merle Australian Shepherd, Rowan, who is the BEST boy.
Joining AIGA has been the most impactful choice I’ve made for myself as an illustrator in Tallahassee. I feel like I’m part of a design family and have been able to meet and network with such great folks. I’m stoked to be a part of this community!”
