Member Spotlight: Brittany Gress

Welcome back to the AIGA Tallahassee’s Member Spotlight!

We began this series to highlight our wonderful community. Our first ever spotlight was for John Lhotka, who recently became Communications Director of AIGA TLH. For the first spotlight of his tenure, John thought it only fitting to celebrate his predecessor, our friend Brittany Gress:

Brittany is a visual artist and designer working for the Florida Resources and Environmental Analysis Center (freac.fsu.edu). She specializes in social design and digital illustration. Her passion for the fine arts fuels her work with local nonprofits to create meaningful projects that question, uplift and empower the community.

Brittany was a founding member of AIGA Tallahassee and served as Communications Director from 2017 to 2020. She has been a major organizer of Design Week Tallahassee.

How did you find AIGA Tallahassee?

I helped start it! Back in 2017 my best friend introduced me to the idea of an AIGA chapter in Tally, and all of a sudden I was on a tiny team plotting wacky ideas every week. I have so many memories brainstorming together after work, learning how to write bylaws, road-tripping to other chapters on the weekends. AIGA Tallahassee has given me lifelong friends and I wouldn’t be the same person without it.

Why is creativity important?

So many reasons. Creativity connects us to each other across time, geography, circumstance… It’s therapy, history and invention all in one. Creativity is everything!
