Member Spotlight: Erik Eugene

It’s time once again for our favorite bi-monthly tradition, AIGA Tallahassee’s Member Spotlight! This month we  celebrate designer and skateboarder, Erik Eugene:

Originally from Miami, Erik is an interdisciplinary artist and designer currently based in Tallahassee. He graduated from FSU in 2016 with a degree in Studio Art. He currently works as a designer for Sachs Media.

He combines his love for skateboarding and architecture with the bold colors of Miami into his work, which ranges from digital illustrations to a programmable skateboard and in-engine game photography. His goal is to encourage the viewer to see the world the way he sees it — a space that is open ended and its use constantly changing.

How did you find AIGA Tallahassee?

I learned of AIGA TLH through my coworker and the Events & Community Director, Chris Crouch. Once I started working at Sachs Media, Chris showed me a whole world of design I didn’t know existed, including AIGA. I enjoy meeting fellow creatives and learning of their projects, as it serves as motivation for my own.

Why is creativity important?

Creativity allows us to interact with the world differently than each other, and communicate those interactions through a variety of mediums. It is a universal language that all creators speak, and observers understand.

Make sure to follow Erik on Social Media!
