Member Spotlight: Marisa Lepore

For this month’s Member Spotlight, we are celebrating graphic and web designer, Marisa Lepore.

A life-long artist, Marisa received a BA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2018. In the middle of her college career, she fell in love with web design after taking a coding class and became sort of obsessed. She started learning graphic design to create assets for websites, and eventually branched out to logo design and print design.

In the middle of the pandemic, Marisa left her office job to pursue freelance design full-time. Now, she runs her own web design and brand identity business from her home office and plans to start traveling someday too. At the root of her work is a desire for positive change in the world. She works primarily with nonprofits, grassroots movements, and social enterprises to create visual identities that turn strangers into allies. To her, great design isn’t just pretty –  it’s powerful. Design can change the world.

Marisa’s other interests include: drawing and painting, traveling, horseback riding, attending local music shows, and pining for her cat, Sweet Potato’s affection.

How did you find AIGA Tallahassee?

Unintentionally, through social media. I attended the Womxn in Leadership & Design talk without even knowing what AIGA was yet!

Why is creativity important?

Creativity allows us to create incredible things out of nothing. I mean, even the act of creating something “bad” is kind of an incredible feat in and of itself. Everything would be sameness without creativity. Creativity makes life worth living, whether you’re the one creating or not.

Make sure to follow Marisa on Social Media!
